Welcome to La Escondida and welcome to Ronda - one of the oldest towns in Spain well known for its medieval settings and breathtaking landscapes. “La Escondida” means “The Hidden One” and the name is inspired by its secluded location, offering a quiet sanctuary from the lively streets where passersby strolling around to discover this dream town. Guests arrive from the main street into a garden, which leads to an old, charming house that dates back to the 15th century. The garden sits on top of the ancient city wall and offers unparalleled views of the Tajo Valley. This ancient wall from the 12th century once enclosed the old city of Ronda is partly integrated into the garden as its outer wall. The small pool at one corner of the garden is perfect for cooling down during the sweltering summer months. Guests can enjoy a home-style living room with complimentary tea/coffee; soft drinks, beers and wines are available for purchase.

We are Lars and Ellen, originally from Denmark and Malaysia. We both like travelling and we are lucky to have visited many interesting places for the past many years. When we travel, whenever we could, we always choose to stay in a Bed & Breakfast, as we think that it is cozy and very often we also get to talk to the hosts and get to know the local area and local culture. When we found this lovely house in Ronda, we decided that it was time to stop working and to start creating our new home in southern Spain. We bought La Escondida as a private house in early 2018 and made some minor modifications to convert it into a Bed & Breakfast. So now, it is time that we receive guests into our own house and to share their travelling experiences. Our goal is to make your stay comfortable, and make your holidays memorable.

La Escondida is located inside the old town of Ronda. This means that many of the main attractions are within walking distances from La Escondida. We are also close to many restaurants, bars and shops. The location is ideal to take a stroll around the town in the morning, enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafes, and return to La Escondida for an afternoon rest or even cool down in the pool. You may continue sightseeing in the late afternoon when the sun is low and the shops are reopen after siesta, and enjoy the end of the day with good dinner and a glass of good Ronda wine. This part of Andalusian also offer good opportunities for hiking and biking. It is possible to start the hike from La Escondida, and within minutes, you will find yourself in the green countryside surrounded by beautiful natures. For those who enjoy good local wine, there are many wine yards and bodegas just outside Ronda that offer wine tasting.
