Our friendly staff will be there to guide you, offering insights into sustainable olive growing practices and sharing stories about the Cortijo’s history. We specialise in horse whispering or “gentling”. This refers to the process of introducing young or untrained horses to human contact, teaching them basic skills and gradually acclimatising them to being ridden or handled. Horse gentling emphasises building trust and establishing a cooperative relationship between the horse and the trainer. For those looking to get their hands dirty, we invite you to roll up your sleeves and join us in various farm activities. Help us tend to our adorable animals, including our beautiful horses. Cortijo La Presa enjoys a truly privileged location among our own olive groves, with tranquility accompanied by fantastic mountain views, which makes it the perfect place to disconnect from the stress of modern life. The flexible accommodation with a kitchen, the barbecue area, the large swimming pool (SEASONAL), the playground and the patios make the Cortijo ideal for families and all types of groups, from 2 people to 34. The hiking and mountain biking trails (bikes available for hire) start directly from the property, with a wide variety of routes ranging from a short walk along the river to the climb to La Tiñosa, at 1,565 m, the highest peak in the province of Córdoba. Horseriding - we can arrange this for you. All our apartments have air conditioning for the summer and a real fireplace for the winter nights. We have a bar and dining room (available for hire at extra cost). Guests can dine on local and international dishes from our professional kitchen - BREAKFAST AND DINNER SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. We are located in the Parque Natrural de la Subbetica - in the heart of the Andalucian countryside. This is a protected area with a huge ecological wealth and beautiful scenery, divided into eight municipalities. This Vía Verde de la Subbética region, which runs along the old railway track and has been converted into a 52 km path, is designed for the enjoyment of hikers, cyclists and horse riders alike as they travel through the municipalities that make it up: Almedinilla, an important archaeological site; Cabra, with wonderful, varied architecture and scenery; Carcabuey, the heart of the nature reserve; Doña Mencía, where the famous wines come from; Fuente-Tójar, land of “dancers”; Iznájar, which lends its name to the reservoir; Luque, a stunning natural entrance to the Sierras Subbéticas; Priego de Córdoba, the Baroque jewel of Andalucía; Rute, with its sweet aniseed fragrance, and Zuheros, of picturesque Arabic-Andalusian beauty. Iznájar - a beautiful village on the largest lake in Andalucia, with an ancient castle (Approx.20 mins). There is also a beach on the lake and boat trips in the summer. We can arrange these for you. Priego de Córdoba - one of the most majestically beautiful towns in Andalusia, is a series of secluded streets and corners crammed with noble houses, architectural monuments and sculptures, all within a complex, irregular urban layout. The town has been the scene of many archaeological sites from all eras as well as the discovery of numerous relics. Its origins appear to be in Roman times, as it is generally believed to have been the site of the Roman town of Baxo or Bago. La Tiñosa is a mountain of the Cordillera Subbética, the highest in the province of Córdoba. There are excellent views of the mountain from Cortijo La Presa. Plus, Córdoba and Granada are great day trips out!
