Sinettä is a small village 18 kilometers from the center of Rovaniemi. Our family owns a bit of land on the shore of the Ounasjoki River, where our Egoa Jättipiilo cottage is located. There is no longer any right to build permanent buildings on the shore, and this cottage is a 20 square meter, newly completed infrared heated building built on a trailer with all the necessary amenities. We are allowed to place one of these on our own land near the shore. You can be completely alone on the shore, because there are no other houses there, only the old cottage owned by my parents is 60 meters away behind the trees, otherwise the view is of the unbuilt shore of the protected Ounasjoki River and ice. Public transport does not operate on a very good schedule in the countryside. To get here, it is best to either rent a car or take a taxi. Traveling by taxi in Rovaniemi is really fast, because there are practically no traffic jams. For example, you can get a taxi quickly and at a reasonable price with the Uber app.

We, the hosts, Juha-Pekka and Sari, love nature. We go camping and camping in our camper vans. Hunting and fishing are great ways to spend time in nature. We also play frisbee golf a lot, and in Rovaniemi that means going deep into the forest again. We are excited to give travelers the opportunity to stay in our cottage. This way, travelers get a true experience of the Finnish pure nature and darkness/ blueness of the winter without any light pollution.

The nearest grocery store is 2 kilometers away from our cottage. The Sinetän saunahuone is nearby the store and there you can explore a traditional Finnish sauna and experience what it feels like to dip into ice-cold water. In the neighboring village of Lehtojärvi there is the incredible Arctic Snow Hotel, whose numerous rooms and ice sculptures can be explored for an entrance ticket. A couple of kilometers away there is also an entrepreneur who organizes Husky rides, from whom you can inquire about the possibility of a sleigh ride.
