This character cottage property is a delightful retreat for two. A place to recharge your batteries and relax. We are a 10 min drive from the town of Chateaumeillant. Calm and quiet, comfortable and fully fitted for self-catering, although there are restaurants a 10 minute and 25 minute drive away. Also the local Intermarche and fuel stations are on the outskirts of Chateaumeillant. This property is set in the heart of the French country side, Centre France. A good position for the many music festivals in the region. Views all around and no near neighbours, lovely walks and lots of wildlife. The dawn chorus is amazing. Lots for artists to draw or paint. There are Chateaux to visit, museums and gardens too, as well as a drive away, Zoos, ( one the largest in Europe), water parks etc, you do need a car. There is a local lake with sandy beach and activities, including zip wire and water activities 10 mins away. George Sands (the writer) is the local celebrity and her place is viewable. The local Tourist office has lots of info, only 10 mins away in Chateaumeillant.
Tony and I moved to France some 22 yrs ago, supposedly to retire but as Tony is a builder by trade we did lots of restoration work here and have had gites for many years. We moved from Lot et Garonne to Centre France 7yrs ago and now have just the cottage which is a lovely holiday home. I ran a boarding cattery for 23 years in UK, we came from East Sussex, Rye area. We both love to garden and are fascinated by the wildlife that lives around us. Deer are often seen in our fields. I also like to paint. We have a horse and donkey who love people and enjoy a fuss. Our 2 cats also live with us but they are shy so won't see them. It's very lovely here and we enjoy that others can share it.
This is a very small village in fact we are the only property in Les Fragnons. The other nearby villages a walk away, are small but there is the town of Chateaumeillant with facilities including super market with fuel, a Chateaux and museums which is only 10 mins away. Then there are the bigger towns 25mins away. There are lots of lovely walks and if you have bikes, trails and lanes to ride around. There is a lot of wildlife including Deer that appear regularly in our fields. In the summer there are several music events in different villages. All the towns have a market day. Chateaumeillant is on a Friday.
