Kimaro Farmhouse is situated in Burgundy, in the French department Nièvre, approximately 200 km south of Paris. Scattered across our land you ́ll find several luxury safari tents. These stylish tents have been carefully finished with a wooden frame which creates an atmosphere and look reminiscent of the distant colonial past. Each safari tent is located in a stunning piece of meadow where you can enjoy optimal space and privacy. Our motto is to keep things to a small scale and to offer the highest quality. From the tent you look out upon the beautiful rolling hills of Burgundy and enjoy the ultimate country life in a luxurious way. We first met at a very special spot in Tanzania: Ndutu Safari Lodge in the Serengeti. Robby is a photographer and was travelling annually to Tanzania to work on a photographic art project, in which he is capturing the African animal world in a unique and authentic manner. Marleen was living in Tanzania and was Lodge Manager of Ndutu Safari Lodge, where she expertly ensured that guests were always comfortable. Robby is Belgian and Marleen is Dutch. We have been living permanently at Kimaro Farmhouse since 2011. By setting up this property in France, we’ve been able to mix our passions of the great outdoors and Africa into a wonderful cocktail. You’ll notice this in the safari tent décor, which is dotted with African accents. Kimaro is a word, which was inspired by the Kiswahili language. KI is a prefix and MARO are the first two letters of Marleen and Robby’s names. Our dream has come true – setting up this Burgundian farmhouse, a heavenly place where you’ll find rest and space. Kimaro Farmhouse stands for quality and authenticity on a small scale.

Kimaro Farmhouse is situated amongst rolling meadows. In the morning you’ll be greeted by our ‘neighbours’, the Charolais cows, for which Burgundy is so famous. From the property, you can take a sandy trail into a gigantic forest - perfect for a long walk, or mountain-bike ride. Culturally, Burgundy is one of the most interesting regions of Europe and is the wine region of France. Aside from this, Burgundy offers one of France’s most beautiful and diverse landscapes, and where joy and tranquility are king. The picturesque French villages, castles and landscapes in our immediate surroundings will truly delight you.
