L' Auberge de L'Ecu, as the property was called in 1722,is located at the top of the majestic Rue de Pavillons in the picturesque and historic town of Preuilly sur Claise. It was initially built as two houses and those who have lived here over time have left a wealth of history. As an auberge ,it belonged to the same family for almost 200 years and when you close your eyes it is easy to imagine the horses and carriages pulling in trough the large gates and resting overnight in the grange while their owners enjoyed good wine and food in the large salon of the auberge.
After 7 years of careful restauration ,the house is once again welcoming guests! Elena and Gica offer beautiful rooms with private bathrooms ,a private courtyard to relax and splendid breakfast to set you up for the day. You are welcome to request an evening meal-table d'hote in advance, prepared by Elena and Gica themselves who are renowned chefs in Sweden where they lived and worked for over 20 years. An accueil chaleureux awaits for you !
Preuilly sur Claise has a remarkable architectural heritage, testifying to a once prosperous village .Many of the streets are rich of history and numerous listed buildings .Preuilly is crossed by the voie Verte du sud Touraine.A bell tower with glazed Burgundy tiles unique in Touraine dominate the Abbey of Saint-Pierre.Lion Castle, which seems to miraculously stand on the piece of rock its shows his style differentfrom the rest of village .The discovery trail continues towards the Claise river. Loches Cite Royale is about 33 min drive, city of art and 1000 years of history. There is many shops and restaurants,as well the market bio on every wednesday and saturday. La Roche-Posay is 10 min to drive, beautiful spa town, historic and is the world leading dermatology brand recommended by 90 000 dermatologists. Futuroscope and Aquascope 50 min drive.New 6000 square meters indoor water park where you will be swimming in a world of 1001 colors.
