## The neighborhood Beyond a charming neighborhood, it’s a state of mind. You are from Croix-Rousse before being Lyonnais! The village-like atmosphere is ever-present, with a large daily market, countless excellent food shops, restaurants, cafés with terraces, and schools. This is a rather young, trendy, and friendly area that loves celebration, great food, sharing, and creativity. Many artists have made their home in the slopes, scattered with galleries, designer boutiques, and café-theaters. Painted walls adorn the façades, and this is where you’ll find some of the most beautiful works in the city! Some ideas for your stay: At the Hénon metro stop, strike a pose in front of the incredible Mur des Canuts (the largest painted wall in Europe), a trompe-l’œil mural. A true work of art that honors our beautiful hill. If you stop at Croix-Rousse metro, head to the esplanade of Grande Côte for what I think is the most beautiful view of Lyon, with clear views of Fourvière and the city center. You can then descend the Grande Côte via the stairs and nearby gardens, always lively in the evenings during summer. Try macarons and chocolates at Sébastien Bouillet’s shop. For a sweet break, enjoy some macarons and chocolates at Sébastien Bouillet, known for his incredible flavors like strawberry Tagada, puffed rice chocolate, and fizzy sugar chocolate. The Bonsoir Clara wine bar. A wine bar (with an organic wine list), hearty platters, and simple, fresh dishes. This place is also dog-friendly. Visit the Traboules, including the Cour des Voraces.
