Les Cerisiers is a great place to explore the Alsace region from. It is centrally located to visit cities like Colmar, Strasbourg and Freiburg in Germany. Ideal to discover a little bit of history, to do some shopping and try local foods in one of the many restaurants. A beautiful bakery / patisserie less than 5 mins drive in Lalaye. There are a couple of distilleries worth visiting to sample violette & rose liqueur, whisky and schnapps. I would definitely recommend a drive through the Wine Road starting at Chatenois and taking through many picturesque villages where you can sample local wine in one of the many wineries. Some of my favourites include Riquewihr, Kaysersberg and Ribeauville. I also enjoyed visiting the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, La Petite France in Strasbourg and La Petite Venise in Colmar. There is so much to do in the area, everyone will find something they enjoy. If you are travelling with young children they may well enjoy a trip to the "Parc des Cigognes" a theme park called Storks Park with a small circus and animals too. Teenagers may like the Europa park theme park. Europa Park is a fantastic place, they have great rides and shows adapted to different times of year. The Winter Wonderland is a must.
