Perched above Menton in a former family estate, Maison Fornari is a 140-year-old stone house built by Antoine Martel, a member of one of Menton’s historic families. The house remains in the hands of his descendants, the Martel and Fornari families – a public square in Menton even bears their name. The property is accessible only on foot via a beautiful old stone path and a traditional mule-step staircase ("pas d’âne"), typical of the region’s terraced gardens. The 3 to 5-minute walk from the entrance gate offers a peaceful escape from the world. Surrounded by lemon trees, century-old oaks, a historic wisteria vine, and a rose bush over 100 years old, the house offers a warm, authentic atmosphere. With natural materials, thoughtful decor, and a sunny terrace, Maison Fornari is the perfect haven to relax, reconnect, and unwind.
