ABOUT ME: I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with my husband and three children. Together with my brother and sister I own this holiday villa, which is very special to us We rent it out when we cannot go ourselves. We have offered it on airbnb for several years now (with excellent reviews!), and have decided to use booking as well to broaden our appeal.
ABOUT THE AREA: This is a wonderful part of the Provence region. The Lac de Saint Cassien, with magnificent scenery and amply opportunity for water sports, is a 10 minute drive away. You can rent pedalos, paddle boards and canoes there.
The picturesque village of Montauroux, featuring several nice restaurants, two bakeries, and a small supermarket, is a 15 minute walk or a 2 minute drive away. Callian, Tourrettes, Fayence (with Provencal market) and Seillans are also lovely medieval villages. From the elevated Mons you can see the sea. A little further away you find the pretty, artistic towns of Vence and Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
The region is famous for its art museums, including the Fondation Maeght (Vence), the chapel of Matisse (Saint-Paul-de-Vence), the sculpture garden of the Chateau La Coste (Le Puy) and the Musée Picasso (Antibes).
Activities with children include Les Ajustadous (Mons; playground with games + playing in shallow river), Vikings Parc Aventure (Montauroux; tree climbing, minigolf etc.), the cave of Saint Cézaire, the Aqua Parcs of Lac de St Cassien (Chez Pierre or Okwide), Aqualand (Frejus), the perfume museum (Grasse), and of course the many Cote d'Azure beaches, only 30 minutes away.
If you're feeling sporty, you can go gliding at Fayence airport or book a tennis court in Callian. There are also many beautiful hikes, such as the descend from Montauroux to the Pont des Tuves, where you are rewarded by a dip in the cold river, so bring your swimming gear! Other spectatular hikes include the one around Cap d'Antibes. You can also hike around St Cassien lake.
