Immerse yourself in a completely unique experience as you spend your vacation in an original 12th century home, lovingly restored and updated to preserve the historical character and family heritage of the space. Originally part of a cloister, this home possesses a rich history: it once housed an industrial horticulture business, as well as a nougat production space before becoming a family home. Situated in the quaint, historic village of Ollioules near Toulon, off the Côte d’Azur, you’ll be transported back in time with all the comforts of modern-day living. Featuring exceptional arched spaces, swings in the vaulted living room, and four different floors with a central staircase, this is a whimsical, one-of-a-kind space where hidden treasures abound. With four bedrooms each on a different floor, lack of privacy is never an issue for your 7 guests. Meet up for meals in the updated kitchen or take your morning croissant out on the terrace. An unexpected stay in a wonderful location comfortably settled between ancient and modern times.
Stephanie is passionate about the renovation of old stone buildings, architecture, and the preservation of the past. It took her and her husband 7 years to renovate one-third of this 12th-century vaulted masterpiece building, now open to guests. Working with skilled craftsmen who implement ancient techniques is what makes Stephanie happy, even from New York City where she lived 8 years or San Francisco today for the last 6 years. She is working every single day on renovating the house from far away, to transform this beautiful architectural building one stone at a time!
-The house is located in the heart of the medieval village of Ollioules, in the historic perimeter. You can walk everywhere! A few steps away, you can benefit from the small shops and cafes, art studios, the market (Thursday, Saturday), the Place d'Ollioules. -This historic heart is the ideal starting point for visiting the town, its medieval streets, and its art workshops. From the 19th Century « horticulture's village », to the oldest remains of a protohistoric settlement on top of the Bay of Toulon, a scenic walk will lead you by the historical streets of Ollioules, a fortified village. In the area of the coastal river, you will discover a water mill. Into the heart of the Renaissance private mansions borough, local monastery, and parish church squares, you will follow some urban paths up to the early medieval fortress and chapel of the Viscounts of Marseille. -The extensive hiking trail (GR) from the city center gives access to numerous walks in the massifs of Gros Cerveau and Croupat -Ollioules is near the beautiful villages of Sanary-sur-Mer, Le Castellet, Saint-Anne-D'Evenos, La Cadiere d'Azur, Bandol, etc
