Property information

This holiday cottage is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Situated in a picturesque hamlet within Arkengarthdale only a short 4-mile drive to Reeth and surrounded by the spectacular surrounding countryside. Footpaths and cycle paths can be accessed straight from the cottage door and an extremely popular pub, CB Inn, is within walking distance, less than 1-mile down the road. This Grade II listed Dales Holiday Cottage dates to the 1800s. It is the end terrace of a row of only six holiday cottages

Neighbourhood information

The C B Inn is within walking distance of the cottage and serves lovely, gastro-pub style food. A little bit further on, in the small village of Langthwaite is the Red Lion pub. A quirky pub, with a fantastic landlady who is a fountain of knowledge regarding the area. The Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in England, is a 16-minute drive in the opposite direction and certainly worth a visit (in good weather!). Further amenities can be found nearby in the popular village of Reeth, which is only a 4-mile drive away. Reeth has three pubs (one currently closed), a wine bar, three cafes, two bakeries, a gift shop, Ice Cream Parlour and Café, Scenic View (photography gallery), Swaledale Museum, a Post Office with Village Store (brilliantly stocked with most essentials you can think of!) and the Reeth Dales Centre, home to art workshops and studios. There is also a market held every Friday morning with various stands including veg, meat, fish, cheese and plants. Slightly further afield is the Georgian town of Richmond with a Georgian Theatre. The remains of Richmond Castle, Easby Abbey and many shops and food/ drink establishments. The market town boasts many shops, food and drink establishments. A visit to view the historic remains of Richmond Castle and nearby Easby Abbey is well worth a visit. From the cottage you can travel over the moor known locally as The Stang, which will take you to the market town of Barnard Castle. Again, lots of shops and eateries to explore. In the opposite directions you can drive the tops to reach either Kirby Stephen or Hawes. Both market towns are worth a visit for the drive alone.
