Welcome to 1 Laigh Isle, our self catering holiday chalet at the Isle of Whithorn, which welcomes visitors to the beautiful countryside of Dumfries and Galloway. The Isle of Whithorn is the most southerly tip the Machars, Southern Scotland. The Isle of Whithorn is a gem of a historic village and seaport, the harbour is set around with mostly Georgian houses. Sit outside the Steam Packet Inn with a glass of wine or their own brewed ale and enjoy the ambiance and a little Isle of Whithorn 'magic' will cast it's spell on you. Our holiday chalet is just a few hundred yards away from the sea with lawns and parking by the side. The two bed chalet is very comfortable, quiet and perfect for a relaxing holiday. The chalet is fully equipped and has speedy free WI-FI. Double bed and small bunk beds in the second bedroom. There is so much to see and do in this area of Scotland from walking sandy beaches to visiting exotic gardens, historic castles, ruined abbeys and stately homes, to golf, walking or just exploring the rock pools or enjoying a meal that someone else has made for you. We accept well behaved children and well behaved small dogs oh and their (well behaved owners)

We hope you'll love this area and the Isle of Whithorn as much as we do. Here you'll find peace and quiet, just the sound of the sea, and birdsong. Clean air and on a clear day you can see the Isle of Man, and The Lake District Fells, on a starry night the full set of stars are visible as there is little or no light pollution.

We recommend that visitors reserve a table at The Steam Packet prior to arrival, as it can get busy especially at weekends, dogs are accepted in the bar area and the conservatory. And the food is great, always with a range of specials, if you like fish then you'll be delighted. The post office and shop is a great resource for milk, papers and cards etc, next door the cafe in the hall serves freshly cooked breakfasts and lunches but both are open limited hours. Nearby Whithorn has a Costcutter and a few nice cafes including the visitor centre cafe. Larger supermarkets are at Newton Stewart, we stop there and shop at Sainsburys or Aldi, and buy petrol. Newton Stewart also has an amazing museum. Nearby Wigtown is Scotlands 'book town' and is well worth a visit. The Craft Hotel serves great food too - I love their chilli con carne. There is a view point with a camera on an Osprey's nest upstairs in the town hall and 'Martyrs Cell' where you can lock up your wife/husband/children... Isle of Whithorn, with it's pretty harbour, is the site of the ruins of St. Ninian's Chapel, walk from the harbour passed the memorial to The Solway Harvester, the Tower and pretty coves to the chapel.
