Property information
This delightful dog friendly, four-storey property is situated in picturesque Blockley, one of the Cotswold‘s most charming villages, within walking distance of the pub, shop and famous church. Two former mill cottages joined together, 4 Court Cottages benefits from a tranquil location in landscaped gardens, divided by a soothing trickling stream and within easy striking distance of many popular Cotswolds hotspots.
Neighbourhood information
Mid-way between Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh, Blockley is one of the larger Cotswold villages and remains relatively unspoilt. Like many Cotswold villages, its heritage is firmly rooted in the wool trade but unlike others, following the decline of the wool trade, the village prospered thanks to the presence of silk mills supplying silk ribbon to the Midlands.
The Great Western Arms is the nearest pub, within easy walking distance and a traditional pub, suitable for drinks. The Horse and Groom, in nearby Bourton-on-the-Hill, has an excellent reputation for food. The Blockley Village Café serves delicious food at lunchtimes and on certain evenings of the week.
Blockley Church attracts Father Brown fans from around the world.
The bustling town of Broadway is a must see chocolate box Cotswold favourite brimming with independent shops, tearooms, art galleries, eateries and pubs. Foodies will be spoilt for choice with everything from afternoon tea at the famous Lygon Arms; to fine dining at Russells and everything in between, including the wonderful Broadway Deli and Russell's Fish and Chips.
If you're visiting during the summer months, enjoy a night at the opera Longborough Festival Opera.
Stretching over 56 acres, Batsford Arboretum is home to an incredible 2,850 labelled specimens of tree. With a large garden centre and café, it’s a lovely place to visit any time of year, but the spring colours are particularly photogenic – and if you’re here in the autumn, don’t miss the fiery reds and oranges of the Japanese maples. Just up the road from Batsford Arboretum is the Cotswold Falconry Centre, where you’ll find over 130 birds of 60 different species. You can come and watch the daily flying displays, stroll past the aviaries and book for special events like owl evenings or eagle days.
There are a number of excellent National Trust properties in the area, including Hidcote, Snowshill and Chedworth Roman Villa.
