The village of Constable Burton sits a mile below Sun Hill Lodges, and The Wyvill Arms has a warm welcoming bar and a restaurant. For light afternoon activities, swing over to the driving range at nearby Akebar or wander around the stunning Jervaulx Abbey followed by delicious ice cream at Brymor. Scenic and more challenging walking routes weave across the countryside and market towns. There are some lovely routes around the well-known historical racing town of Middleham, 3 miles away. Middleham Gallops are fun to visit, and horse racing enthusiasts can even book guided stable tours of the Sun Hill racing yard and get to know the horses. Cycling is a popular activity in the area – for amateurs and enthusiasts alike. Tried and tested routes and bike hire are all available around Leyburn.
