Anniston is a small working farm nestled on the edge of The Howe o' the Mearns. It is a mixed arable farm with pedigree sheep. The original sand stone farm buildings were converted into three holiday cottages. They surround the original walled courtyard which now has become the garden with patios for guests to enjoy. Although we have kept the original stonework of the cottages, we have furnished and decorated the internal spaces in a modern and comfortable style.Free internet at slow country speed. Our one bedroom cottage is 5* Visit Scotland. The two bedroom cottage is also 5* VS. Our three bedroom cottage is 4*
We are a couple of seasoned young at hearts whose chicks have long since flown the nest. We really look forward to welcoming you if you chose to come to Anniston Farm. Bring your children and grandchildren. Bring a bucket and spade for the local beach, or binoculars to view the scenery and wildlife. We have been farming longer than we care to remember and if you have any questions to ask us before or after you arrive, we will answer them. We can tell you what's happening on the farm or our favourite places to eat. We are on the farm full time and it is important to us that your stay with us is as comfortable as possible.
The Royal Burgh of Inverbervie, which is situated one and a half miles to the east of Anniston, lies on the North Sea Coast. The village was granted a Royal Charter by King David 11 when he and his Queen, Johanna were shipwrecked there in 1341. The hospitality shown to them by local fisher folk was rewarded and Bervie became the Royal Burgh of Inverbervie. Inverbervie was the site of the first flax mill in Scotland. Although the settlement of Inverbervie goes back to stone age times but there are notable more recent residents. Hercules Linton grew up here in the Market Square, he designed The Cutty Sark tea clipper. Nearby at Arbuthnott, Lewis Grassic Gibbon author of Sunset Song lived. Inverbervie has a beautiful pebble beach and the walk around Bervie Bay to Johnshaven is level and is on the site of the dismantled rail line. Inverbervie has a useful range of shops, restaurants and facilities which includes a medical centre, vet surgery, library/museum, sports centre, play parks and tennis courts. A regular bus service operates between Aberdeen and Dundee and passes through the Burgh.
