Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and down a quiet lane away from the main road, this lovely cottage dates back to 1871 and was originally owned by the Duke of Northampton, who used the property for his land agent. Ashby Cottage was separated from Ashby House in the early 1970’s to form a separate residence. The cottage boasts traditional features such as an original baker’s oven and attractive mullion windows. Long Compton is situated in the beautiful Cotswolds in south Warwickshire close to the borders of both Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village is located approximately half way between Oxford and Stratford upon Avon and is within easy reach of both. The church dates back to the 13th century, and the lychgate to the 17th century. Visit the award-winning pub, which was built as a coaching inn in 1748 and is situated only 300 yards from the cottage. For golfers, there are two excellent courses close by, and for horse riders, guests will find an excellent riding school. Bikes are available to hire from Morton-in-Marsh. Only one mile away stands the ancient Rollright Stones, just waiting ...
