Very well located near the high street, but far enough away to be quiet. The property is small, but packed with everything you could possibly want and well presented. The host was exceptional, keeping in touch to ensure everything was OK and...

We stayed at Fryers Cottage for 2 nights for a wedding in the area. The cottage itself is stunning, so cosy, especially having the woodburner in the evening. Plenty of local shops, cafes, and restaurants a short walk away. The beds were so...

Built into the hillside, this idyllic two-bedroom stone cottage is located on the edge of the Peak District on a charming lane in the heart of historical Wirksworth. It's a genuine cosy bolthole, perfect for any time of the year. Constructed circa 1840, Fryers Cottage retains its original character and features, including a wood-burning stove and exposed beams. The cottage has two beautiful bedrooms featuring Nectar mattresses and organic cotton bedding. One bedroom has a Feather and Black king-size bed, bedroom two has a small double bed. The bathroom has both a shower and a bath and also provides complimentary toiletries. The kitchen is fully equipped and is home to a Nespresso coffee machine and a Robert's DAB radio. If radio isn't your thing, you will find a Sony Bluetooth speaker, enabling you to choose what you listen to. The cottage walls are adorned with various art prints, including some original art from local artists, adding a quirky sense of style and character.
We love Derbyshire and enjoy all it offers - the stunning walks, the fantastic views, the lovely pubs and restaurants and most of all the people!
This location provides the benefits of both town and country living, with beautiful walking trails and countryside, immediately alongside excellent independent restaurants, pubs, shops and even a cinema. Wirksworth is known as 'The Gem of the Peak', when you visit you'll discover why. As well as being 'Gateway to the Peak', the town is also home to a popular art scene, with an annual arts festival, regular music nights, artisan and farmers markets. The local shops stock everything you need - local produce at its best. A fabulous butcher, Ken's minimarket (this shop is legendary) Skopa - the zero waste place stocks everything from cereals to soap and sweets. The narrow winding lanes and passageways (The Puzzle Gardens) are reminiscent of a town direct from a Harry Potter novel! Wirksworth is ideally situated for all the Peak District has to offer, including Matlock, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Dovedale and Eyam.
