Blackwood is in the seaside town of Hornsea, with sandy beach, promenade to stroll along, and town centre with numerous independent shops. There is so much to see and do within easy reach - this is an excellent base for exploring the area. A short walk away is Hornsea Mere, the largest fresh water lake in Yorkshire. A nature lover's delight, and a designated site of special scientific interest for birdwatching. To explore the coastline, and well worth the 40 minute drive, we recommend Bempton Cliffs, Danes Dyke and North Landing - all three are close to each other on Flamborough Head, where the sheer white chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds juts boldly out then drops dramatically into the North Sea! There are a number of activities within a short distance, from the wide flat sands of Fraisthorpe Beach, to the popular Beverley Races. For those looking for something a little more active, why not try one of the many cycle routes nearby, including the Trans Pennine Trail. The historic market town of Beverley, one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets, is 30 minutes away, with restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as Beverley Minster, which hosts various events throughout the year.
