Dormer cottage is one of the oldest building on the estate and adjoins the lovely old threshing barn. It is cosily equipped and great for families and groups. The cottage sleeps 5 in two double rooms and one single. It has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, excellent broadband with fibre to the premises. The bathroom has a bath and shower over it, there is also a downstairs loo. To end your evenings there is an open fire in the sitting room to snuggle round and play games or watch the smart tv. You have your own garden area with seating and a bbq as well as a rear courtyard which is fenced.
We live on site in the original farmhouse and enjoy welcoming guests to the three cottages that we have here. Hopefully we can help with your trip and are very happy to recommend great places to visit, restaurants and pubs in the local area, and interesting walks if you are interested.
Set in woodland close to the river Piddle the hamlet of Hyde feels off the beaten track but is only 4 miles from the historic market town of Wareham and 8 miles from the nearest beaches and the county town of Dorchester. To explore the area fully you will need a car or be very enthusiastic cyclists but it is well worth the effort! The beautiful Isle of Purbeck and Dorset's amazing Jurassic coastline are a short drive away. Amazing walks await you including the iconic Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door or maybe go fossil hunting at Kimmeridge or Charmouth. We are surrounded by wildlife with Deer, badgers, barn owls and buzzards regular visitors. We also have some of our own with a flock of hens and some rare breed Soay sheep. Water is part of the natural beauty of the area but children must be supervised at all times.
