Company information

Anna & I founded Drift Cottages back in 2021. Drift Cottage is our first. We loved it as soon as we stepped inside. Over the last two years we have painstakingly renovated this classic Fishermans Cottage and brought it back to much of its former glory. It is a very quirky property which has retained its period features, as well as its 'winder' staircases with rope balustrades and wood panelling walls. With the help of the local museum, we have traced its origins back to 1807, when it was the residence of a local Pastor. The rear yard was traditionally an area for crab pots and fixing fishing nets. This is now a courtyard garden area. Located in the Historic Harbour Bowl area, you are just stroll away from local restaurants, shops and public houses. Of course, the streets and houses of the time were not designed for motor vehicles, but there is free on street parking nearby as well as paid long stay car parks. We can advise on this, and give some handy recommendations for excellent local restaurants & attractions. We have had a very busy first year, with excellent reviews from our guests. We are local to Brixham & available online & via mobile throughout your stay and will do all we can to make your stay at Drift Cottage a very happy one. Please be advised that this accommodation is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Also be aware that this is a cottage with steep stairs over 3 floors and may not be suitable for very young children.

Originally a traditional fisherman's cottage, our listed retreat dates back to 1807 and retains many of its original unique features. A modern Valiant gas boiler and central heating were installed in 2023.The dining room is accessed through an old stone arch and has stone walls with exposed rafters. The room has an in-built larder housing a large fridge freezer. The Kitchen is compact but perfectly formed, has solid oak worktops, dishwasher, integral microwave and electric oven. All other appliances and coffee maker are presentThe bathrooms in the house are also brand new. Both are panelled with one having a bath & luxury shower sink and W.C. The other is a shower room with W.C and sink. Both main bedrooms have been completely refurbished and have wooden floorboards, original fireplaces, shuttered windows. The pink room has a king size bed and luxury mattress whilst the Captains room has a super king size bed. Luxury cotton bedding and towels are supplied(please do not take towels off-site and ensure you bring your own separate beach towels etc). Neighbourhood information

Conveniently, the town is home to three supermarkets, all a mere five-minute walk from Drift Cottage. You'll also find fruit and vegetable stalls, butcheries, gift boutiques, art galleries, a camera store (Mifsuds) and even a vintage record store. Fresh fish can be purchased directly from the market, or at Steph's fish shop. For thrift shoppers, numerous charity stores can be found, as well as an arcade. Consider spending your day deep sea fishing or spotting dolphins. There are also notable National Trust Properties, including Greenway, Agatha Christie's former mansion, Colyton Fish Acre, the Steam Railway and the ferry to Dartmouth or Torbay. Brixham boasts a vibrant theatre scene with regular performances, two museums and several festivals throughout the year such as The Pirate Festival, Fishstock, The Trawler Race, & The Lanterns & Illuminations in November. There are a number of excellent beaches nearby. Fischcome & Churston are a short walk away, as is St Marys Bay, the Breakwater beach and the saltwater pool at Shoalstone. We are spoiled by a large number of excellent seafood restaurants and public houses which makes this a year round location for either a summer holiday or weekend break.
