Emerald Bank Cottage is situated in the most spectacular northern part of the Lake District. It looks like a traditional lakeland cottage but has every modern appliance, including PodPoint electric car charger and superfast broadband. The cottage has everything you’ll need for a walking or family holiday in the Lake District - including maps, walking books, boot racks, dog basket/bowls and a games room with table football and air hockey. The cottage is situated in Uldale, a small rural village in the Lake District National Park between Bassenthwaite Lake and Caldbeck. Oil-fired central heating and open fire in living room. All fuel supplied. Free local phone calls. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome (downstairs only and not on furniture please) Outside: Enclosed rear garden, mainly laid to patio with wrought iron table and chairs, bench, flowering shrubs, parasol and BBQ. Parking for 2 cars only - one on the drive and one outside. Please car-share and reduce your carbon footprint! Thank you. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, boot racks, drying area, dog basket/bowls. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels included. Welcome pack provided. High chair and travel cot provided (bring own cot linen please). 2 Hairdryers. Other: Conservatory/sun room. WiFi internet access.
We are the Kay and MIke Wesley and we have 5 grown-up children who all enjoy the great outdoors. We've hiked all over the UK and in many other parts of the world. We wanted a holiday home that could cater for our dog, muddy boots and wet clothing, but also be cosy and fun with games, music and plenty of space for a big family. We love staying at Emerald Bank Cottage and hope you will, too! We redecorate annually and refurbish the house every couple of years and replace bedlinen, furnishings and kitchen equipment, but we try to keep it looking and feeling cosy and traditional too. We have quite a number of guests who return year after year, and so do we! Now our children's children are regular visitors too, and discovering all the delights of the North Lakes.
The village has a tea room, tennis court and adventure playground and the Snooty Fox Inn - serving a variety of real ales and superb food. This part of Cumbria is beautiful and quiet, excellent for walking away from the crowds. There are walks straight from the door, with sightings of birds of prey and red squirrels commonplace. The lakes of Bassenthwaite, Buttermere, Crummock, Derwent, Ullswater, Loweswater, Ennerdale are a short drive away. Keswick or Cockermouth are 15 mins away.
