End Cottage is a traditional white stone built Lakeland Cottage with an abundance of character and not a straight wall in the place! It is at the eastern end of the village of Chapel Stile, as the name suggests and from the doorstep you can literally walk straight out onto the fells. Sleeping up to six people the tastefully decorated accommodation comprises of a spacious open plan lounge / sitting room, kitchen and dining area and one twin bedroom on the first floor. The lounge is dual aspect offering panoramic views over the hillsides. Its log burning stove keeps this room cosy in winter. On the ground floor there is one double bedroom, en-suite with a shower room and WC, one twin bedroom and a separate bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. It is right next door to our Speddy Cottage, which can be booked together offering enough accommodation for eleven guests in total. To the rear of the property is a pleasant paved area for sitting out in the sun to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and clear air. This leads into an enclosed area of fellside where children can play in perfect safety. There is ample parking for two cars beside the cottage.

Chapel Stile, in the heart of the Langdale valley, is a village that used to serve the local slate workings – well served on a good local bus route and with a convenient little Co-op which carries an impressive stock to support you on your holidays, and of course the local village pub, Wainwrights Inn. It is just 5 miles away from Ambleside, a much busier tourist hub with many shops, cinemas and a variety of eateries to suit most palates. Grasmere is only 9 miles away, famous for its lake, gingerbread and home to William Wordsworth which he described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found." For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located nearby in Chapel Stile. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
