This 70-acre natural retreat offers you all the best of West Dorset, including rolling hills, wild flower meadows and woodland streams. There’s a rope swing for children young and old to enjoy, and you also have permission to light a campfire near the tree house. If you fancy a spot of shopping, Bridport is just a short drive away. Chances are you’ll come across a local food market when you visit – they hold them every Wednesday and Saturday, and there’s a Vintage Market on the last Sunday of the month between March and October. Bridport is just a stroll from West Bay, a small fishing harbour with yachts and boats bobbing in the water. There are plenty of shops and pubs here, and you can take a fishing trip out from here too. See if you can catch a mackerel or two! Dorset is known for its rugged and undulating coastline. One of the best stretches is accessible from the village of Burton Bradstock, where you’ll find photogenic traditional thatched cottages. From here you can stroll along the coastline and come across miles of pristine beaches. The town of Abbotsbury has an unusual claim to fame. This is the only place in the world where you can visit a colony of nesting Mute Swans. The Swannery here was originally created by a group of Benedictine monks. If you’re interested in natural history, you could try your hand at fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast. There are so many reasons to visit Lyme Regis.
