Company information

I grew up at Gorton House where my Mum and Dad started the business which has evolved into the holiday rentals you see today. I live in nearby East Lothian with my husband and 3 young kids. Up until summer 2020 I have been working as a nurse (still doing the occasional shift) and have only recently taken over the running of the business. It is great to be spending more time at Gorton and only now appreciate the amount of work that Mum and Dad put into it. As I'm fairly new to the job I appreciate any feedback as I want guests to enjoy their stay and make sure that people have everything they need.

Property information

Gorton House provides flexible accomodation for 1 to 33 people across 7 properties. Each house has it's own charms and will allow you to relax in a comfortable setting that is like a home away from home. The grounds provide plenty of space to wander and stretch, and there is a tennis court available to any guests that prefer a more strenuous work out. There's lots to explore in the surrounding areas of Edinburgh (castle, museums, festival), Midlothian (shopping, walking, skiing), East Lothian (golf, beaches) and so much more.

Neighbourhood information

Gorton House overlooks Roslin Glen, a picturesque nature reserve in the heart of Midlothian. There are beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside. The local shops can provide all you need for your self catering holiday. There are good transport links, train station and park and ride approx 10 mins drive away. Family friendly attractions close by include Dalkeith Country Park, Vogrie Country Park, Beecraigs Country Park, The Kelpies, Jupiter Artland, Hillend Ski Centre. Local eateries include Vins Cafe and Angelina Coffee Snug, The Sun Inn for something special, The Papermill for casual lunch, Secret Herb Garden or Dobbies garden centre for coffee and cake.
