Loved the rural farm location- very peaceful and felt at home there. June was very helpful and provide us with discount codes for our Beamish visit and chatted about the farm with us- being farmers ourselves we found this very interesting.

Company information

This is a sheep farm, and we have a number of sheepdogs - Frank's hobby is Sheep Dog Trials and we hold them here at various times throughout the year, or he travels to Northumberland and Yorkshire to the Trials held there. You will often see him working his dogs in the fields near the cottages, and will happily give you a demonstration if you would like to see this. He was born on this farm and loves everything about the countryside and sees lots of things on the farm which I would miss - birds, owls, deer, foxes, badgers to name a few. My time is taken up mostly with the cottages and grandchildren. I enjoy property renovations on the farm and if I have any spare time I like to read, swim or walk or spend time with my family.

Neighbourhood information

We are located on the hill-top looking over the hills and valleys, but only 2 miles from the nearest village. Diggerland is in Langley Park (2 miles away) and is a big attraction to young and old. Beamish Museum is only 20 minutes drive from us and is probably the biggest attraction in this area. Durham Cathedral and Castle - World Heritage Site - is only 10-15 minutes from us. There is a Park and Ride situated half-way between us and Durham City which is very handy for people who prefer not to drive into Durham. Lanchester Garden Centre is about 0.75 miles from us, and has a restaurant which serves meals all day. Apart from the usual garden plants etc. it sells garden furniture, buildings, large carved animals, There is a play area for children, and a collection of birds and animals to see. We are only 30 mins drive from South Shields with its lovely sandy beaches, funfair, cruise ships and Ferries. Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens are well worth a visit too - approx 1 hours drive from us. Bamburgh and Holy Island are approximately 1.5 hours drive away.
