Hazelbank Bed and Breakfast is a bright and airy house located on a quiet road just off the main road between Dunvegan and Glendale. The house is decorated in a contemporary and tasteful way (IOHU) by ourselves in 2021. Our rooms are cozy and homely.
We are in a very quiet rural area of North West Skye with Dunvegan being the nearest village. We are situated 40mins from Portree. This means we are ideally situated for a bit of slow tourism. Come visit us and stay a while. We recommend a minimum of 3 nights to begin to appreciate all that Skye has to offer.
Hazelbank has fantastic views of Dunvegan castle, Dunvegan loch, Cuillin mountains and is ideally situated for many of Skye's must see landscapes and walks.
We have 1 self contained, en suite room above our double garage available for B&B guests.
The room has a super-king bed, en-suite shower room, dining area, juliet balcony, flat screen TV, hairdryer, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and free wi-fi.
Breakfast is served in the main house.
Our other two rooms are in the main house and both are en-suite rooms with super-king beds with the same facilities as above. Room 2 at the back of the house has restricted views of Loch Dunvegan and can be set up as a twin room.
Guests staying in the main house have the use of a lounge which is equipped with tea & coffee making facilities, a small drinks fridge and spotting scope.
Breakfast is served in the guest dining room and there is a choice of breakfast dishes including Full Highland Breakfast, Creamy Scrambled Eggs with smoked salmon and a Scottish Cheese and Charcutrie board. We also serve as standard, teas, coffees, fruit juice, homemade granola, homemade jams, fresh fruit from the garden when available, yogurt and toast.
And remember our house is an ideal spot to indulge in that fantastic slow tourism.
We are Pam and Mark who have made the move to live permanently on Skye after falling for it's immense charms during our first visit here in 2009. We enjoy walking, especially exploring the less traveled areas around our home, climbing, mtn biking and cooking. We are dog lovers but are currently without dogs :-(.
We have recently enjoyed our attempts at sea fishing from the many places nearby and also on our kayaks on Loch Dunvegan.
We love to chat and hear stories and it brings us great pleasure hearing laughter at the breakfast table in the morning. To that end, please note breakfast is served at a communal table in our dining room.
Our hope is our guests will leave with that very special feeling of having enjoyed their trip to the full. It is also worthwhile noting we believe that Skye is ideally suited for a good few days of exploration. To that end we generally advise guest staying a minimum of 3 nights.
We have several excellent restaurants all within 30 minutes. The Three Chimneys is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive.
There is also Lochbay Restaurant (1 michelin star), Edinbane Lodge, Edinbane Inn, The Dunvegan and The Old Schoolhouse.
Additionally in Glendale there is Cafe Lephin and Chidakasha Skye (V).
The hills at the back of our house can be accessed from our garden and Dun Colbost broch is a 1.5mile round trip walk. Along with several other broch's all of Skye's amazing landscapes and sites are easily accessible from our beautiful area.
Particularly close are Neist Point Lighthouse and Dunvegan Castle, both around a 20min drive. Some of the less traveled but most stunning walks can be easily accessed.
We love chatting about your itinerary over a coffee at breakfast. It is particularly pleasing to us when guests are staying longer to fully appreciate all of Skye's charms.
It is probably worth noting that Skye is much bigger than most people expect and in fact feedback from our guests suggests that is true for Scotland as a whole. Although the south of the island is stunningly beautiful as well, it is an hour plus drive from here to some of its better locations. This is really doable but perhaps not if you only stay 2 nights. We have had excellent feedback from guests who have based themselves at 2-4 locations in Scotland for a 2 week trip for example and wished they had stayed in Skye longer.
