The Grainary Our most recent conversion, The Granary, was once a working grain store brimming with life. Today, it’s a cosy, character-filled space where rustic heritage meets modern comfort. Nestled between the farmyard and the fells, it boasts stunning vistas of Bassenthwaite Lake and the eastern slopes of Ullock Pike, creating an inspiring retreat in every season. The Sheepfold Tucked between the mountains and the farmyard, The Sheepfold was once home to our flock during lambing season. Now a charming countryside hideaway, it offers breathtaking views of Ullock Pike, Carl Side, and Long Side. With its window overlooking the sheep pen, you may even glimpse a few woolly friends at sunrise—just don’t forget to close the window before bedtime! Highside Farm sits proudly within the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District, between the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. The surroundings shift beautifully with the seasons, offering endless opportunities for walking, hiking, touring, or simply relaxing amid the peace of the countryside.

Home to the Mawson family since 1963, Highside Farm is a traditional working sheep and beef farm, spanning 300 acres from the fells of Ullock Pike to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. Originally a sheep farm, we later brought in cattle, and in 2003 the farmhouse got a big makeover, turning it into a B&B and opening the doors to guests for the first time. Highside Farm is more than just a family home, it is a place we want others to experience and enjoy. Whether you are here for an adventure, a peaceful escape, or a special celebration, we hope you feel the same warmth and magic that we do.
