Lovely location, in quiet village. Very central to visit various places of interest. The homemade granola was delicious and the views from the sitting room were stunning. The hosts Kate and Matt were so welcoming and just lovely people.

We hope that you will enjoy your stay in this unique cottage with stunning views and spacious layout for 2. Holly cottage has under floor heating throughout which is powered by a ground source heat pump ,hence no carbon monoxide alarm is required. Holly Cottage was built in 2015 but our main house was built in the 1880s. We feel the character of the cottage compliments the main house. Gringley is a fabulous place to walk and explore, the pub is only 300 yards away.
We are looking forward to meeting new people and sharing our unique space. Holly cottage is attached to the main house but we have interconnecting doors that will be locked at all times during your stay, there are no shared rooms. The garden areas are shared with our family who live in the main house. We wish to ensure that guests are aware that: a) We will provide cereal ,milk, tea and coffee for you to make your own breakfast. b) Whilst no pets are allowed we do have a small dog that will not be allowed in the cottage during your stay. We request that guests use the plastic tableware /glasses for outside dining so we don't get broken glass outside. c) There is a small selection of travel toiletries for if guests have forgotten anything. d) It's a maximum of 2 overnight guests. e) For insurance purposes we ask that guests set the alarm when going out. We look forward to welcoming you.
The Blue Bell Pub at Gringley on the Hill offers food and real ale. Gringley's a quiet rural location with no shop and limited public transport but it does have lots of country side walks -some of which take in the picturesque Chesterfield Canal. On Fridays between 1.30 and 4.30 we have a pop up Post Office in our community Centre which is just a short walk from Holly Cottage. We are only a few minutes drive from the 'Cow Shack' which makes homemade Jersey ice cream, the pretty Jersey cows graze locally. In you are looking to eat out during the day the local village of Misterton has the Pantry which serves breakfast, brunch and lunch. North Wheatley is home to Leys bakery, an artisian bakery and cafe . 15 mins away is North Leverton Windmill, it's over 200 years old and remains a working Mill, it's open to the public on Saturdays and sells a range of flours. The Old Hall at Gainsborough is amongst the best preserved medieval manor house in England and dates back to 1460, it's just 10 minutes away. Similarly Epworth, birth place of John and Charles Wesley , often called the 'home of Methodism' is a short drive away. Just 30 minutes drive and you are in Robin Hood Country , home of the Major Oak. Clumber Park a National Trust attraction is 30 mins away, as is Sherwood Pines, a Forestry England attraction. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is 20 mins away , it's home to over 60 different species of animal ,during the summer it hosts live music and themed evenings ,check out their website ! If you visit in November or December check out Lincolnshire Wildlife trust for information about Donna Nook and their seal viewing area, it really is a wildlife spectacle and its 75 minutes away. A little closer is Historic Lincoln and York whilst London is 90 mins by train.
