The apartment is located in the north of the city centre. It's a short drive to anywhere, but walking, it's about 10 minute walk to/from the city centre shopping area and about 15 -20 mins walk to/from Lancaster train station (0.7 miles). A large Lidle supermarket is next door with Sainsbury's a short walk away.. Lancaster University is located south of the city and can be reached by car in approximately 20 minutes. Lancaster's history can be traced back several thousand years. The small city has a cathedral and a medieval castle where the witches of Pendle were imprisoned, and has as its backcloth the beautiful countryside of the Lake District, the Forest of Bowland and the Lune Valley. It is a friendly city packed with pubs, clubs, shops, markets and theatres. Lancaster Castle, the Cathedral, the Ruskin Library, Williamson Park and St George's Quay with its award-winning Maritime Museum, are noteworthy visitor attractions. Since the prison wing closed in 2011, Lancaster Castle now offers extended tours of the building and courtyard, and runs themed events throughout the year. There is a good selection of independent cafes and restaurants in the city centre.
