The cottage was cosy and tastefully decorated. We felt right at home. The host was very helpful and supplied us with a batch of freshly laid eggs. The hamlet is very rural and quiet and has an excellent pub.

Recently renovated with love, this 17th Century cottage has modern features in a traditional build. With gorgeous walls made of stone, the attention to detail creates a wonderful environment, whether it be cosiness or relaxation you wish for, or even a little dinner party! Ground Floor: Consists of a spacious open plan kitchen and living area with a fantastic open fire place. The bedroom consists of a Super King Bed/Twin Beds, whichever you would rather. It has an en suite bathroom. Second Floor/Mezzanine: This floor consists of a very comfortable Vispring king sized bed with a cute en suite shower room. The guests have the whole of Lower Godney Little House to themselves. You share your parking with us in Lower Godney House, a stones throw away should you have any questions or requests. We will generally be around. You can knock on the door or call at any time.
We are Hannah and Jim, and we live across the drive in Lower Godney House, with our young son and friendly dog. We will generally be around to help should you have any questions. You can knock on the door or call at any time.
Lower Godney is a charming community in the Somerset levels. Fields and farm animals a plenty, we are also lucky enough to be surrounded by nature & bird reserves. It goes without saying the walking and biking is heavenly! Set at the end of the village, you can expect a quiet stay. Apart from the dawn chorus by all the garden birds and the farmer occasionally passing by - sometimes with a herd of strolling cows! - it is a little slice of peacefulness (The farmer closes our gate so we are safe from any particularly nosy cows). With Glastonbury and Wells on our doorstep (10 and 15 minutes drive respectively), there is never a dull moment or a lack of activities. Our local pub, The Sheppey, is just down the road and is a hub of interesting memorabilia and quirky decor. It has a fantastic sun terrace along the River Sheppey and serves delicious pub grub and local ciders. There’s usually a buzzy atmosphere so we recommend booking. Local sights & Interests include: The Sheppey Pub, Godney. Double Gate Tea Rooms, Godney. Godney Gathering Festival. Wilkins Cider Farm. Glastonbury Town for all things mystical and wondrous. The Chalice Well & Gardens, Glastonbury. Glastonbury Abbey for some interesting Arthurian legend. Glastonbury Tor for a steep walk and fantastic views across all of Somerset Glastonbury Festival Shapwick, Ham Wall, and Westhay nature reserves for some incredible bird watching. Avalon Marshes Centre Wookey Hole Caves and Entertainment. Chedder Gorge and Caves. Wells Cathedral. Ebbor Gorge. Clarks Retail Village in Street. Frome Independent Market (first Sunday of each month). Hauser & Wirth Gallery in Bruton. Roth Bar & Grill in Bruton. Royal Bath & West Show. Information on all the above and more will be shared in our guide book if and when you book.
