Absolutely beautiful cottage, stunning view and everything you need at hand. Very welcoming owner. Will definitely stay again

Very steep and narrow road to the cottage and tight car park. The cottage is beautiful but definitely not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. Everything you need for a relaxing comfortable stay

Location was perfect for me, quiet and with a great view. Local facilities were very good with two pubs and a well stocked shop within walking distance. Also there was a good cafe and a take a way chippy.

Ideally situated for a lone traveller. Beautiful village, with property high and overlooking the village, river and surrounding countryside. Property perfect for me and welcome gifts much appreciated.

Lovely little cottage. Cozy, warm and in an ideal location for Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire

Property information

Maes yr Afon is a charming character cottage tucked in the hillside above St.Dogmaels, overlooking the Teifi Estuary and less than 1.5 miles from the beach and the coast path. This cosy and comfortable terraced cottage is ideal for romantic getaways by the stunning coast of Cardigan Bay, perfectly situated for walking and near to the broad expanse of dog-friendly Poppit Sands. With its pretty white stone walls, log burner, and traditional box bed, Maes yr Afon makes a lovely winter hideaway, too. Please note: this property allows a maximum of 2 dogs. No other pets are permitted. Please also note that the cottage is situated at the top of a steep narrow lane which may not be suitable for larger vehicles. There are narrow steep steps up to the cottage which may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Please take care on the steps.

Neighbourhood information

St. Dogmaels has a magnificent ruined abbey, a working water mill, a village shop, a Post Office, an excellent Fish and Chip shop, and three pubs, one only a 5-minute walk from the cottage. The Coach House Visitor Centre also incorporates a museum, gallery, and cafe, where you can learn about the area and enjoy some local food. Maes yr Afon is just a mile from the market town of Cardigan, with its theatre, cinema, pubs, supermarkets, and individual shops. You can visit the Welsh Wildlife Centre, Cilgerran Castle or Cardigan Golf Club, or try some watersports with one of the local operators. The local bus service helps you explore the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and the cottage also sits at the end of the Ceredigion Coast Path and on the edge of the Pembrokeshire National Park.
