My family fell in love with this wonderful town over 10 years ago, and we have been coming back ever since. For us it ticked so many boxes, from the unspoilt walks to the fabulous Bowes museum the town known locally as Barney has something for everyone. We will be delighted to have you as our guests and from the moment you arrive we want to make you feel at home! You will find our snug cottage has everything you need, whether you’re staying for a few days or longer.

Tucked away just 100 yards from the Butter Market in the centre of Barnard castle, you will find The Maltings Cottage. This snug cottage is the epitome of luxury accommodation perfect for couples, families and It's doggy friendly too! This former listed malthouse caters for up to 4 people and is truly your home from home, decorated to the highest standards, boasting original features, the finest furnishings, modern appliances and products from some of our favourite suppliers in the local area.  Whether you walk to the famous Bowes museum, take a tour round the castle, catch a show at the the Witham or head down to the Alpaca Farm this is a wonderful base to discover the many delights of the Teesdale area.

Neighbourhood information

The Maltings cottage is situated within walking distance of The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, The Witham, St Marys catholic Church and has direct access to some fabulous walks over the domains and river. This area is steeped in history, a short drive will take you to Kynren, Raby castle, Egglestone Abbey and Rokeby Park to name a few. For the children there is Wetheralls Animal Rescue, Teesdale Alpaca treks and Hamsterley forrest to name a few.
