Charmouth Beach on the world-famous Jurassic Coast is perfect for families, you can enjoy swimming, making sandcastles, fossil hunting and rock pooling, whilst the more energetic can take advantage of this fabulous walking region, all within a short stroll of Meads Cottage. Panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site can be viewed from nearby Stonebarrow which lies above the village of Charmouth and extends along to the Golden Cap Estate - the highest point of the South Coast of England. Numerous footpaths invite you to walk and explore the countryside, whilst admiring the sea all along. The popular town of Lyme Regis is just a ten-minute drive away, where you will find a sandy beach, pebble shoreline, and its iconic Cobb and Harbour. There are number eateries, art galleries, and you can book fishing trips or attend one of the regular art and music festivals. Make sure you visit the Town Mill Bakery, it’s a firm favourite. West Dorset is a fabulous location for foodies: the highly acclaimed Hive Beach Café in Burton Bradstock and its equally fabulous sister café, The Watch House in West Bay. Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen is nearby where you could book yourselves onto one of the popular cookery courses or one of the many different dining experiences they have on offer. Felicity's Farm Shop at nearby Morecombelake is well worth a visit, and the market town of Bridport has a large selection of independent shops and supermarkets.
