Good location so lots to do. Comfortable and warm house and garden was nice. Quirky and old house which we liked. Judith was very accommodating and welcome pack appreciated. Hadleigh has everything you need too. Nice river walk and pubs.

Company information

Hi I’m Mark. After travelling the world I decided to settle down in Suffolk twenty years ago and started my own little business with a beautiful old derelict farm complex, which I converted into six lovely little cottages for people to escape from city life and enjoy the wonderfully rural experience that this area amazingly has, despite its close proximity to London. I love what I do and am ‘Hands On’ with welcoming guests to my own six cottages, as well as looking after my Cottage Agency that soon developed as other owners came asking me to take on their cottages and give them the same level of personal customer care, attention and promotion that we are known and appreciated for. I don’t want to be a huge company, I’m very happy to have a small agency of 30 -40 cottages where personal involvement is always the priority and where I can pick only places which I love and know inside out to join us. I am always available to answer any questions and above everything else I want you to be in a cottage that suits you, so you will become our ambassador. Please do ask me a question about this cottage and I will give you a very honest answer. Best Wishes Mark - The Grove Cottages.

Property information

Meddlars dates from the 1600s but has all the modern touches, like its marble floor and well equipped kitchen to its wet room shower. Yet it still retains much of its historic charm, and its ancient timbers transport you back to days gone by. The advantage of this cottage is that it is priced at the rate for a one bedroom cottage, but it does have a nice little second bedroom suitable for a third adult. You enter the cottage into a cosy sitting room with a cosy real flame gas fire to toast your toes by, at the end of this room is an open staircase winding up over the dining alcove. Beyond the dining area is the long modern kitchen with a door out to the back garden. Upstairs there is a pretty double bedroom, a wet room shower bathroom and a single bedroom. There is a small but fully enclosed garden to the rear of the cottage with herbs to pick, a patio decked area and BBQ, and of course we provide bicycles. Up to 2 Pets welcome: Banned Dogs: Please also note that if you are considering bringing a dog breed which may be thought of as a danger or a concern to others, and definitely any Banned Dogs, then Please check with us first before booking and we will discuss the suitability of our cottage for you and your pet. There is a 20 Pound charge per pet for up to 7 nights. Please note that cottage owners cannot accept pets that have not been paid for, so please make sure that you have paid for your pet before arrival. Some clarity about Deposits and Cancelations: A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking and the balance due one month before arrival. Full payment is due if the booking is less than one month away. If you need to cancel you can receive a full refund up to 30 days before arrival. Furthermore, you also get a 24-hour Grace Period when making a booking, during which you can cancel and get a full refund.

Neighbourhood information

Hadleigh is an ancient market Town with over 200 hundred listed buildings and a lovely high street full of interesting and unusual shops, there is a river running through the town with a nice riverside walk and another good walk along the old disused railway line which is now a nature reserve and takes you out into the countryside, you can take one of my bicycles onto it for a ride along the cycle route. Hadleigh is a short drive from Flatford Mill where John Constable was born and painted The Haywain and you are surrounded with interesting countryside walks and pretty Medieval Villages to explore.
