Company information
Dominey's Yard is a beautiful collection of 4 Victorian farm workers cottages which have recently been renovated to a very high standard, set in 2 ½ acres of mature gardens which guests are welcome to explore. All our guests also have use of the shared outdoor heated swimming pool (open from May-September) and a games/play area for both the young and not so young alike!
Husband and Wife team, Nigel and Adele run Dominey’s Yard and love living in such a pretty part of Dorset. “Having spent 10 years owning a large holiday cottage business in Cornwall, we have a wealth of experience and knowledge in providing a perfect holiday setting for guests to relax, feel at home and make wonderful memories. We live in the grounds of Dominey’s Yard and are on hand, but not intrusive, for any advice on places to visit and things to do or just a chat. We are more than happy to arrange anything from our own Land rover pickup service for tired walkers to delicious home-made cakes and bakes to enjoy during your stay – our ethos is: “Just ask and if we can we will!”
When they are not working in the gardens or cleaning the cottages, Nigel can be found on the golf course and Adele can be found baking cakes or out walking in the stunning countryside.
Property information
Poacher’s Cottage is part of a collection of 4 tastefully renovated holiday cottages which can be found in the pretty village of Buckland Newton.
The cottage has a good size lounge and dining room with comfy sofas set around a log burner. The kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped with all the amenities you would expect including a full size fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and Nespresso Coffee Machine.
Upstairs all beds are made up with high quality white linen, non-feather pillows and duvets and super comfy mattresses for those lazy mornings in bed. The large rainfall walk-in shower is an added luxury and fluffy white bath and hand towels are provided. We do advise guests to bring an extra towel to use for the swimming pool.
Please be aware that there is a step down from the sitting/dining-room into the kitchen and from the kitchen to the outside patio. The staircase is quite steep and narrow. As you would expect in a property of this age, there are some low beams and lintels which all add to the character of this gorgeous cottage.
From the kitchen door at the back of the cottage is your own private patio with table and chairs and bbq (bbq coal can be provided at a charge) overlooking and leading onto the gorgeous communal gardens.
Guests are encouraged to explore the beautiful and well stocked country garden; you’ll be sure to find a sunny spot or shady corner to relax with a book.
We can provide baby/toddler items; such as travel cot, highchair, booster seat, step, bedguard, etc. Just contact us to let us know should you require anything.
You can rent the cottages individually or take over more than one for a larger group booking. Dominey’s Yard can sleep a total of 18 guests, accommodated in 3 x 2-bedroom cottages and 1 x 3-bedroom cottage. See our other cottages; Gamekeeper’s Cottage, Woodcutter’s Cottage and Gardener’s Cottage for more information.
