The top floor is simple and compact with three single beds, of which two in a main room and the other in a tiny separate bedroom leading off it. Staithes is a delightful seaside village in North Yorkshire, a natural harbour where Roxby Beck meets the sea. Exploring Staithes is an adventure, with it's nooks and crannies, the beach, mysterious paths, stepping stones over the Beck, rural walks, a mindbogglingly narrow street, quirky shops and galleries, fishing, the museum, unexpected views and timeless appeal. There are three pubs (all do great food), cafes, a bistro, a delicatessen, a sweet shop and a Co-op general store. Staithes is a great base to explore North Yorkshire Coast and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. There's lots to do and see. Walking distance from Staithes, take the Cleveland Way north to Boulby or south along the clifftops to Port Mulgrave and Runswick Bay. Further afield, down the coast is Whitby with it's famous 199 steps to the Abbey, the major resort of Scarborough and the village of Robin Hood's Bay. Up the coast there's the charming market town Saltburn-by-the-Sea with its funicular down the to pier. Inland, visit Goathland Station (a.k.a. Hogsmeade Station from the first Harry Potter movie) to take a steam train to Whitby or drive over the moors to the magnificent city of York.
