We look forward to welcoming you to this glorious bit of South West Scotland and hope you come to love it as much as we do. We want you to have a fantastic holiday and want to come back again and again as many of our guests do. We farm the Arbigland Estate which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and recognised as such in that it is designated as being in a National Scenic Area and a site of Special Scientific Interest - the fossils along the beach tell a tale. We want to share it with you and will do all we can to ensure you have a brilliant holiday.

Property information

In a unique and unrivalled position set right on a private beach overlooking the Solway Firth and the mountains of the Lake District. This really is a position that dreams are made of. No roads, no light pollution just stunning views and total peace and quiet. Shore Cottage is a charming beachfront holiday cottage with 3 bedrooms (one double, two twin) , a comfortable sitting room with a large sofa to sink into while enjoying the views from the panoramic window that looks out to sea, and two armchairs. There is a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine etc, a dinning room with seating for 8 and two bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bath). A sunny enclosed garden (dog proof) perfect for enjoying a BBQ and long delicious glass of something! Great for birdwatching (between two major bird sanctuaries - Mersehead and Caerlaverock), close to two of the 7 Stanes mountain biking routes, a championship golf course a few miles away (Southerness) and fantastic countryside all around so very popular with artists and walkers. This is the perfect switch off place. Fantastic walks straight from the door and a great pub a 45 minute walk along the beach.

"The Solway Riviera" is a stunning part of Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland. We are blessed with a micro climate thanks to the Gulf Stream so can enjoy warmer, dryer weather than most of Scotland and certainly the Lake District! Masses to do all around - mountain biking (close to 2 of the 7 Stanes), birdwatching (between Mersehead and Caelaverock bird sancturies), golf (5 minutes drive to Southerness championship course), great food (25 minute drive to Castle Douglas - our food town, and Loch Arthur a 15 minute drive away), great art galleries at Kircudbright, Fabulous walks from the door and all along the coast, seaside villages to explore - (Kippford, Sandyhills, Rockcliffe) Sailing at Kippford, Mabie Farm park for children (15 minutes drive), the smokeries along the way to Wigtown famous for its books and book festival. National Trust gardens at Threave and further along Logan botanical gardens and Castle Kennedy. 25 minutes to the Garden of Cosmic Speculation at Portrack. On the edge of the dark sky region so great for star gazing as no light pollution. Or just stay put and enjoy the glorious scenery, peace and quiet while sipping a large glass of something
