Property information

Mackenzie House is a B listed historic Victorian property built in 1896 and was converted to offer holiday accommodations in the early 1990's. Centrally located in the village yet retaining a very private feel being surrounded by garden, trees and woodland. East Wing, West Wing and Nicolson Cottage are annexed to the main house and all have their own their own private entrances while Mackenzie Lodge is a detached property in the peaceful grounds. All make simple comfortable and cosy bases for a relaxing Highland holiday.

Neighbourhood information

Our comfortable self-catering holiday rentals in Strathpeffer are the perfect base for exploring the Scottish Highlands, including the North Coast 500 touring route. Strathpeffer is a leafy former Victorian Spa village with some beautiful grand houses, gift shops, cafes and museum. It's a quiet and friendly place surrounded by gorgeous scenery but close enough to Inverness if you need a wee city fix. Only 20 miles from Inverness which has easy access by road, rail or airport. Inverness Airport is only 40 minutes away and connects us to the world so easily. Explore local attractions like the Eaglestone, a Pictish carved standing stone, Loch Kinellan, Strathpeffer Pavilion, the Highland Museum of Childhood at the old railway station. Walk to the Stone Maze and Knockfarrel's hill fort with 360* fantastic views. Strathpeffer Golf Club 18 hole course. Castle Leod, seat of the Clan Mackenzie. Eat out at Unwined bistro, The Deli in the Square, Old Railway Coffee Shop, The Retreat Hotel or Liking Chinese restaurant. There's many, many miles of hiking routes through the forests and mountainbiking from the door. Home to the infamous Strathpuffer 24hour mountain-bike race. Good access to fishing the Blackwater and Conon Rivers. There's also a pharmacy, doctors surgery, local grocery shop and Post Office, gift shop and a community shop selling Fair Trade goods and gifts.
