The Bothy at Ivy Cottage, is a beautiful and comfortable refurbished, centuries-old stone Shepherd’s Hut, situated in the hamlet of Red Path, Haltwhistle. The characterful cottage consists of two rooms, a shower bathroom and a good sized living area, which incorporates a comfortable King Hypnos bed with luxury bed linen, a breakfast table & 2 chairs located by the picture window, so you can enjoy breakfast while taking in the glorious views down the valley. The Bothy does not have kitchen facilities, hence it is marketed on a Bed & (continental) Breakfast only basis and we have set up a small breakfast station which has a Nespresso Coffee machine, kettle (with full supply of tea/coffee pods), toaster, microwave and mini fridge, along with dishes and cutlery. Prior to your arrival your breakfast items, which you will have pre chosen, will be available for you at the breakfast station. The simple and stylish bathroom provides a shower, toilet and washbasin with White Company towels. Located just 2 miles from the popular town of Halthwhistle, with its busy train station and local buses connecting the area, to the beautiful towns of Hexham and Corbridge, and further afield to Newcastle and Carlisle. We are surrounded by dramatic countryside, woodlands and magnificent views as far as the eye can see. There are many walks and cycle paths to enjoy and the town of Haltwhistle stages a walking festival every year when hundreds of people come to walk some of the great trails we have access to. We are also situated in the middle of the Dark Sky Area, so you will have the opportunity to enjoy some amazing starry nights. The bothy is also located within easy reach of Hadrian's wall, and the forts of Vindolanda, Birdoswald and Housesteads etc., and the Kielder Forest, Northumberland Nat. Park & the North Pennines AONB are just a drive away. We have some great Restaurants (Including Michelin starred) , Pubs/bistro, coffee shops etc., all on our doorstep for you to enjoy.

We were introduced to Ivy Cottage when we took part in the BBC programme 'I Escaped to the Country' in 2017 when house no. 2 stole our hearts. We knew in those first moments that this would be the perfect place to make our home, and to welcome guests from all over the world.
