Take it easy at this unique and tranquil detached cottage. The Cow Shed is a spacious luxurious getaway, newly refurbished in 2024 with some stylish details. Set around a courtyard garden at Bank Farm, just a short walk to the Masons Arms pub and a three-minute drive to a supermarket in Yeovil, yet you will feel like you are miles from anywhere in this quiet village setting. The upstairs bedroom has an emperor-sized bed and breathtaking views over open countryside. The onsite tennis court is at your disposal. Just bring suitable footwear as tennis rackets and balls are available. Outdoor furniture is set in the adjacent orchard.
Ian and Sonia escaped to the countryside and found their dream house three years ago. The cow shed was a perfect place for Ian to relocate his clock workshops in a work-from-home setup. Three years on, Ian is ready to retire and the restoration of the Cow Shed has been his six-month project, delighted to be able to stamp his style on it. You'll find some interesting hand-made items of furniture. Now he will spend his time being creative.
Ham Hill Country Park is a beautiful 5-mile round walk from Bank Farm. There are many great cycling routes from Odcombe into the more hilly local landscape, or head north to the Somerset levels for an easier ride.
The National Trust property Montacute House is within easy walking distance of the house.
The historic town of Sherborne is just the other side of Yeovil.
If gardens are your thing, The Newt and Hauser & Wirth at Bruton and NT Stourhead House are a short drive away. For a rainy day two excellent local museums are the Haynes Motor Museum and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.
Further afield, Wells Cathedral is 44km, and the seaside resorts of West Bay and Lyme Regis are a 40-minute drive (or a 32km hilly cycle).
