This was the most gorgeous stay, such a beautiful, private little cabin in a perfect location to explore the highlands. The comfiest bed we have had, and added bonus of seeing badgers at night time!

The Drey is in an idyllic spot. very quiet and peaceful but not too far from places to get shopping or meals. what makes it special is the abundant birdlife all around and the visits from badgers in the evenings. I got some terrific photos just...

Le calme et la propreté, la campagne à quelques minutes d’Inverness. On se sentait chez nous, dans notre chalet. Équipement complet bien agencé. Karen est disponible et donne de bons conseil

"The Drey, Inchberry" is a self-contained cabin built in spring 2021. It is open plan, 6m x4m large (260sq ft), and remarkably spacious inside. The cabin is very well insulated so comfortable in every season. It sleeps up to two people and is ideally suited for solo travellers, wildlife photographers, nature lovers or romantic getaways. "An amazing three days. The location and cabin were lovely and so relaxing. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in" - Hazel, May 2024 The cabin sits within the grounds of May Cottage 5 miles west of Inverness. Named "The Drey" because the local area is populated by wonderful, personable little red squirrels who are always a joy to behold. The cabin has a red squirrel theme throughout. Close to both Inverness and Beauly the cabin sits at the edge of the village of Lentran in a stunning rural location with amazing open views to the North over fields to the Beauly Firth and Ben Wyvis. To the South, there are fields and beautiful deciduous woodland. The accommodation is flexible. The beds are European singles (200cm long) and can be set up as singles or a super-king. It is very well insulated and also has windows on three sides so receives a lot of light. The kitchenette features a sink, fridge/freezer and combi microwave. There is a toaster, cafetiere and a wide selection of kitchen implements. There is a selection of nature books and a few novels. No TV but there is high speed fibre broadband and a radio. There is a comprehensive welcome pack in the cabin with instruction manuals, local info and more.
I am a wildife photographer and guide who has lived in the Scottish Highlands since 2019 (originally from Edinburgh). I enjoy meeting guests and wildlife clients and sharing my love of the area and the feathered and furry animals that live locally. I do offer wildlife and photography guiding if this is of interest. If you have any questions about the area, the wildlife or the cabin please do just get in touch.
This is a very quiet neighbourhood. The cabin sits on the drive of my house, but is private. It is surrounded on three sides by fields and has views over these, plus woodland and to the Beauly Firth and munro Ben Wyvis. There is lots of wildlife surrounding the cabin and some lovely local walks to enjoy. Badgers visit every evening and can be seen behind the cabin. There are many different birds and to help with ID I've included a few sheets with photos and info. The field behind the cabin is home to either cows or sheep during the summer and autumn months. It is also very accessible for reaching the Cairngorms, Loch Ness, the Moray coastline and even the West Coast (it's only 2 hours to the Skye Bridge). Inverness and Beauly are both only 5 miles away. It is best to come by car but there is a bus that will drop you off a 10-15 minute (uphill) walk from the cabin, and taxi cabs.
