The Old House is a characterful and established property dating back to the early 1700. It has historical links to Samuel Taylor Coleridge who frequented the library of Thomas Poole. It is said that some of his poetry was written here. Frequent visitors included William Wordsworth, Southey, Davey and the Wedgewoods.
It has an acre of delightful gardens to enjoy and we are central to the village and many attractions to visit.
The Quantock Hills are within walking distance and many walks start in the village. One of our bedrooms is the old library and is a popular stay with those starting their walk of the Coleridge way.
My wife and I were both in education . Ann was a primary headteacher and enjoyed her time immensely. I was a Deputy Head at a local secondary school. We both retired a few years early to start a new occupation doing what we enjoy at the moment. After 10 years in this business we enjoy it too much to retire.
Nether Stowey is a lovely village nestling in the foothills of the Quantock Hills, an AONB (area of outstanding natural beuaty). It has lovely views across to Wales and to Exmoor and the Mendip Hills. There are many delightful walks of all grades and mountain biking is a well kept secret.
