Location was perfect for views across the valley and the jersey cows going past the front window twice a day. The host was friendly and provided very useful tips about the area, always available if needed without being intrusive.

Trengothal Barn is a Grade II Listed granite barn which started life in the 18th Century as a tractor shed and animal barn. It has been sympathetically renovated using traditional lime pointing and reclaimed delabole slate tiles and transformed into a simple, elegant and well-appointed, self-catering holiday cottage. Time slows in this rural idyll to the pace and rhythm of the lovely herd of Jersey cows that reside here at Trengothal and bring life to the farm. The barn comprises two bedrooms, sleeping 4 (in twin or combined large double beds). The bathroom has a large, walk-in mains pressure shower. The open plan living area is light and airy with a vaulted ceiling and comprises a modern kitchen, dining and sitting area. The large end window provides stunning views over farmland and down the Penberth valley and is beloved by our nosey, Jersey cows who like a quick peer in and lick, especially after I've been cleaning, as they saunter past for milking. Guests have the use of a beautifully landscaped gardens and a private patio with a bbq. There is free, courtyard parking for two cars.
Caleb and I came across the barn in 2016, a total ruin with half a roof and muck and straw for a floor. Caleb had his own landscaping design and construction business in the New Forest and I used to organise exhibitions and trade missions abroad. We fell in love with the place and decided to combine our skills to undertake the massive renovation project ourselves - a true labour of love!
The barn nestles in the most tranquil of settings, at the head of the Penberth valley, west of Penzance near Land’s End, Cornwall. It forms part of a tiny, ancient, granite hamlet which has a rich history tied to its agricultural heritage. The farm has been in operation for centuries, with records dating back to the 16th century. Nowadays Trengothal Farm is a privately owned dairy farm. Trengothal is equidistant from, and has lovely walks to the most stunning coastal beaches of Pedn Vounder, Porthcurno, Nanjizal, Sennen and Gwynver. It is only a 5 minute drive from the famous Minack Theatre and PK Porthcurno Museum of Global Communications and is the ideally located for a holiday exploring all that the far west of Cornwall has to offer! Penzance is a 20 minute drive away.
