We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Sovereign was a former pub, it had some interesting memorabilia on the walls. It was very clean and had all necessary facilities. Very close to centre. Parking was a big plus.

Property information

The Sovereign was originally an old public house and has been lovingly converted into a spacious 3 bedroom holiday home with some of the original charms. The house sleeps 5 guests over 3 bedrooms and has the bonus of having 2 bathrooms and a private parking space. There is a separate living room, dining room and kitchen as well as a quaint courtyard to enjoy a morning coffee. Centrally located in the conservation area with just a 2 minute stroll to the town and beach. Please note: There is a slight step as you come out of the 1st floor bathroom and down the stairs. There is also a step up and down leading in and out of the 1st floor double bedroom.

Neighbourhood information

There is off-street parking for 1 car at the rear of the property. Please park on the left by the wall as the other space for Victoria Cottage is for the next door neighbours. There is free street parking on the road and surrounding roads. The nearest paid parking is Victoria Street car park. You can view the charges on the Canterbury City Council website. Parking can be limited in the high season but once you have parked up, you are close enough to walk into town, beach, shops etc. You can also visit the 'Just Park' website to find out where to park in Whitstable. There are frequent buses running from Whitstable to Herne Bay and Canterbury. You will find bus stops along Harbour Street, High Street, Oxford Street etc. The trains from Whitstable station will take you to Ramsgate or further afield to London. Whitstable Train Station is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre. Whitstable Taxi services are available for short fares or airport runs. The nearest airports are in London and the nearest Ferry port is in Dover. Dover.
