Before 2021 Top House was a bed and breakfast, now we do self catering. Top House has 3 en-suite double bedrooms, with zip n link super king beds in two rooms and a king size in the third room we have achieved a modern living space but retaining the "traditional cottage" features. You will enter Top House from the patio at the rear of the house, The "garden room" is a comfortable sitting/dining room with a wonderful wood burner , 6 windows and plenty of light coming in, upstairs there are 3 en-suite double rooms. Free Wifi and a TV are available in the bedrooms. There is always plenty of hot water from the solar panels or the Rayburn. The Property has a small well stocked garden and enough car parking for 5 cars. Guests are also welcome to walk at the back of the property down my parents' fields to Offas' Dyke footpath about 300m away. Top House is situated in the Kingswood area of the village of Forden. The Pub, The Cock is 150m away but is currently closed. At the other end of the village there is The Railway,a pub which offers traditional pub food. I can recommend plenty of places to eat locally.

I am Jackie, I have great pleasure in welcoming you to my cottage You are booking the entire cottage for self catering. My partner and I have a very busy farm life, he has cattle and sheep, I keep my flock of breeding suffolk sheep in the barns and fields behind Top House. Early in the year there are often lambs to be seen. I usually leave some cake and milk for your arrival, the local supermarkets are in Welshpool please use the recycling as much as possible, using biodegradeable plastic bags in the bins. I do not allow pets in the house, but if they are happy to stay in the outbuildings or your car they are most welcome, The area is full of lovely things to see and walks to do.

Top House is 4 miles from Welshpool where you can connect with rail and bus links, I can pick you up if you give me notice. Powis Castle and Gardens are just outside Welshpool , a lovely walk through the parkland to the town center where you will find lots of tea shops, privately owned shops, the canal, leisure center with pool and more. The other direction is the pretty village of Berriew with the River Rhiew and black and white houses. Montgomery is 3 miles away, has a ruined castle sitting above the market town, again loads of character and I love shopping/browsing in Bunners' (ironmongers) Castle Kitchens do wonderful cakes and breads and lunch if you have time. Shrewsbury, Darwins' birthplace is 18 miles over the border into England, has cinema and theatre and more going on. The seaside is only 50 miles away at Aberystwyth by car or about an hour ish on the train. Also Barmouth, Caernafon and Snowdonia National Park are all good day trips. Chester is about 40 miles, and there is alot to do on the way, at Llangollen, Chirk, Erddig and in between. Offas' Dyke is one fab walk to do, but Long Mountain is behind us and the Severn Valley in front, endless options or relax!
