Our family friendly bell tents were new for 2024.
"Bessie" is fully furnished, pitched in a private and secluded corner of the Trevena Cross campsite. This tent is fully equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Bessie has a double bed, two singles and a cot is available on request (subject to availability). You will also have your own private compost toilet close to the tent.
For campers who are happy to bring your own kit, we also offer:
"Gracie" bell tent accommodates up to four guests, furnished with two single beds and two trundles, all with proper mattresses.
"Annie" our most basic bell tent, accommodates up to six guests with basic camp beds/ trundles
Please remember you need to bring your own bedding and camping equipment if staying in either Gracie or Annie.
All our pitch's are surrounded by agricultural land at the foot of Tregonning Hill and enjoy panoramic views across the Cornish south coast. On a clear day you can see across to the cliffs of the Lizard peninsula and the satellites of Goonhilly in the distance. On clear nights, you can enjoy an unobstructed dark sky full of stars with minimal light pollution.
The rest of the campsite is a spacious, relaxed campground with which you share the shower, washing and waste facilities. It's designed to be simple and easy, with minimal distractions and technology.
Children are welcome and have the run of your field whilst in the main campground we have a vehicle free area for children to play. We have a separate dedicated exercise area for dogs where your four-legged companion can be let off the lead (leads must be on throughout the rest of the site).
Porthleven and Praa Sands are five minutes' drive away or enjoy the beautiful scenic walk of the South West Coast Path.
Our six acres of farmland have been in our family for generations, farmed by our great-great grandparents through to the present day (most recently our Great Aunts; Annie & Bessie!). The associated farm buildings are rumoured to be amongst the oldest in Breage. Pigs and cows used to graze here but today we keep it in meadow and cut for hay annually (just before you arrive).
Our whole family get involved in helping out on site and we really enjoy welcoming people to our home. We're passionate about keeping it simple. The best camping experiences (in our minds!) are when its just you and nature.
We're constantly improving but will never be a big commercial site with streams of electrical devices, fancy entertainment rooms or swimming pools, and that's the way we like it!
We work along side this little pop up campsite and have 3 small kiddos to entertain in too so if we are ever not on site, we can be contacted by mobile.
The site is a great base for easy exploring of the south west of Cornwall and the Coast Path.
The site is superbly located for transport links. There is a stop on the main Penzance-Falmouth bus route close to the site entrance. Travel by car could not be easier, the site is accessed from the A394 which connects westward to Penzance and the A30 and eastward to Helston, onto Falmouth and Truro.
Local areas are also hidden gems - a week could be easily lost enjoying the footpaths around the local area. Just ask us for recommendations!
On the doorstep of the site is Trevena Cross Garden Centre (not affiliated with us) and the Palm Tree Bistro where you can enjoy a bite to eat or drink. You can walk through the Garden Centre to Ashton and onto Tregonning Hill if you fancy the short hike and the reward of views over two coastlines (north and south). There is a play park and large dog-friendly field en-route to keep little ones happy too!
The site is just a few minutes walk to the amenities in the village of Breage where you can visit the historic church, pop to the village shop for essentials or enjoy the local Queens Arms pub and beer garden. The pub runs regular events and offers a great atmosphere for adults and play area for children.
The picturesque fishing village of Porthleven is a short drive, bus ride, or cycle away. To walk, its 2 miles through beautiful countryside, or a little over 3 if you want to walk along the coast. Porthleven has a number of eateries to suit different tastes and budgets (from F&C's to fine dining). You can also learn to paddle board in the harbour, hire kayaks and e-bikes, or walk to the beautiful Penrose Estate.
Praa Sands is 3 miles away to the West (6 min by car, 10 minute bus journey). It boasts a beautifully sandy, mile long beach and amenities including a Beach side bar. You can learn to surf or take guided kayak tours from the beach.
There's so much to see we are more than happy to give personalised recommendations!
