Steeped in impressive character inside and out, this property won a RIBA award. Generous-sized bedrooms and large living spaces are connected on three levels by a feature 'spiral' staircase. Architect-converted into two units in the mid '70s, Watergate House has now been lovingly refurbished and refitted by the owners, the two sons of the architects. The unique semi-detached home, 2 minute's walk from the town centre shops, pubs and cafés, includes a spacious mature walled garden, terraces (perfect for BBQs!), full-width river-facing veranda and balcony and to the rear of the garden, a private forecourt with parking for 3 vehicles. Additional free parking is possible outside the front door: handy for luggage. Inside you will find a warm welcome with wooden ceilings, ambient lighting, comfy sofas and a fully fitted kitchen featuring a Corian worktop with a waterfall end. Every room has a magnificent view of the river. 5G WiFi allows for simultaneous 4k streaming and even remote working/conferencing if necessary (ample average upload speeds). Adjoining the National Cycle Route 81 (Aberystwyth - Wolverhampton) and with a little-used landing stage on the River Severn just outside, the property offers fantastic opportunities for cyclists, ramblers and water-sport enthusiasts alike. Paddle-board, kayak, canoe and cycle hire are available from several operators in town. Drummond Outdoor also do canoe history tours of the town, encircled as it is by the River Severn. Space to store/charge such equipment, if you bring your own, can be found on the ground floor of the house and in its secure garden. Immediately accessible, Shrewsbury hosts a wide variety of shows and events throughout the summer months (the Quarry Park being just a short walk along the river) and boasts a castle, many restaurants, museums and plenty of other indoor activities. The surrounding countryside offers many exciting adventures and Shrewsbury's a great base to explore deep into Wales.
