This 18th-century, Grade II listed former fisherman’s home is full of character and history, offering a rare opportunity to stay in a building that has changed very little on the outside since Whitby was a working fishing port.
Set in a very quiet location on The Cragg, the property retains its original old-town charm while enjoying sea views from every room. Inside, the cottage blends historic features with modern comfort. Both the double bedroom and twin bedroom feature beautiful original ceiling beams, adding to the character and atmosphere of the space.
The property underwent a complete renovation a few years ago , carefully carried out to modern standards while preserving its historic features, including the exposed beams and traditional layout. All bedding is provided for your comfort, allowing you to relax from the moment you arrive.
This is an ideal retreat for guests who appreciate history, character, and peace, combined with sea views and an authentic Whitby old-town setting.

The property is located in one of Whitby’s most atmospheric and historic areas, a part of the town guests love for its character, views, and peaceful setting. Set on The Cragg, this area has retained its original old-town feel and remains remarkably unchanged from Whitby’s days as a working fishing port.
Despite the quiet, tucked-away location, Whitby’s main attractions are all close by. The harbour, beach, and old town streets are within easy walking distance, as are the famous 199 Steps leading up to Whitby Abbey, one of the town’s most iconic landmarks.
Guests enjoy exploring the nearby independent shops, cafés, traditional pubs and highly regarded restaurants, many of which specialise in fresh seafood and local produce. Whitby is also rich in history and culture, with attractions such as the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Whitby Museum, and its well-known literary connections, including Dracula.
