Winkle House is a Grade II listed building situated a minute from the Brixham's inner harbour. The property was refurbished keeping original features on show such as the round purlins in the lounge on the top floor and the round floor joists in the utility room. These were almost certainly part of a fishing boat, possibly a bowsprit or boom. A couple of the joists in the utility room have names carved into them. The property has 4 stories with the kitchen on the ground floor, bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors and the lounge on the top floor with access to a roof terrace with views of the the town, harbour and Torbay. Note that the property has old windy staircases linking each floor. This makes the property unsuitable for the elderly and infirm. Brixham is a working fishing town situated on the Southern side of Torbay. The harbour is protected by the Breakwater which is a half mile long arm that stretches our from Breakwater beach. The Breakwater protects the marina and inner harbour from rough seas in the winter. At the start of the breakwater there are concrete slipways used to load vehicles onto boats for the D-Day landings and the structure near the end was used to load troops. The South West Coast Path passes less than a minute away from the property. Head left to the various beaches and coves on the way to Paignton and Torquay. Head right to pass Breakwater Beach, the Berry Head Nature reserve and on towards Dartmouth passing several other beaches on the way.
